FAQs About ITA
About ITA
The Illinois Technology Association (ITA) is the driving force behind the growth of Illinois' vibrant technology industry. Providing programs and services focused on development, visibility, and talent attraction, ITA accelerates the growth of member company’s businesses. ITA brings growth-stage industry companies together, leveraging the connections and experiences of the community to increase the overall success rate of the local industry. Championing the development and application of technologies and leveraging its transformative nature, ITA is an invaluable resource for growing companies.

What type of organization is ITA?
The Illinois Technology Association (ITA) is a trade association. It's classified as 501(c) 6 not-for-profit organization. It is not a 501(c)3 charity.

Who are the Members?
ITA has over 700 companies as members of the organization.

How is ITA funded?
ITA is funded by the members of the association and the community. It does not receive funding from the state or federal government for general operations. It does from time-to-time take funding from government in support of specific programs for the community.

What is the governance for ITA?
ITA is actively overseen by an experienced Board of Directors, representing successful start-up businesses, academia, and large multinational companies. The expertise of the Board of Directors ensures the association creates a definitive offering of collaboration, leadership, and support to the growing start-up and medium sized business community in Illinois. The ITA is grateful to this committed group of professionals who offer their leadership actively to member companies as well as the staff of the ITA.

Do you have to be a member to participate in ITA events and programs?
ITA welcomes the participation of all members of the community in ITA programs and events but does designate between members and non-members companies. Most events have a non-member price to participate if a company chooses not to become a member of ITA. In other programs, such as ITA’s monthly roundtables, individuals are encouraged to “try before they buy” and can attend events before we request that they become members of ITA.  As ITA is primarily funded by the dues and sponsorship of ITA member companies, membership is important to the development and longevity of the association. ITA works diligently to provide value to those companies that desire to participate.

Where is ITA located?
ITA is located in TechNexus, a clubhouse, conference center and incubator, developed by the ITA in partnership with several local entrepreneurs. The facility is located in the Chicago loop at 200 S. Wacker Drive, 15th Floor.

Are ITA and TechNexus the same thing?
No, they are separate entities. ITA is a tenant in TechNexus but TechNexus was set-up as a separate organization 2 years after the founding of ITA. It was funded by a number of local entrepreneurs including the ITA President and the then ITA Chairman. ITA and TechNexus have a symbotic relationship in which they support the growth of one another.

What is the cost of membership?
ITA annual membership rates vary depending on the size and type of the company. Membership is corporate or company based. To submit your membership request, click here
