Many new teams are starting new projects with React Native. It's familiar to web developers, has multiple bootstrap projects, and immediately deploys to iOS and Android. Many old projects have two codebases - iOS and Android - for replicating features across platforms. How can we use React Native inside larger, legacy apps? Can we really cut development time in half?

This talk will cover a recent experience bridging production iOS and Android apps with React Native, both in new features and in rewriting views. Aside from the basics of bridging classes, what considerations are there for communicating between native views/data and React? How does React work inside a legacy native codebaase? Where should you incorporate React Native into legacy views? What are some pitfalls to avoid? Where can we expect the most time to be spent during the integration?

Josh is leading the engineering team at OfficeLuv, building apps to power the workplace.
