Casecomps is hosting a free design thinking session in partnership with Flatiron School Chicago and Welch Packaging to teach foundational design thinking techniques to passionate data experts, UI/UX designers, and business strategists. Food and refreshments will be provided.
What you’ll do: Apply real design thinking techniques to help Welch Packaging, a regional leading box manufacturer serving clients throughout the country, reimagine it's hiring process for production associates to remain competitive within a tightening labor market. Participants will be broken into teams, walked through design thinking activities, and present solutions at the end of the event. Winning teams of the friendly competition will receive tours of mHub, Chicago’s physical product accelerator.
- 5:30 to 6pm: Check-in, network, & grab refreshments
- 6 to 6:15pm: Casecomps & challenge introduction
- 6:15 to 7:45pm: Design thinking activities
- 7:45 to 8pm: Presentations
Design thinking activities to be used:
- User interviews
- Empathy mapping
- Journey mapping
- Problem statement generation
Entrance instructions: Upon entering the building (515 N State St.), navigate directly to the elevators and go to the 12th floor. Signage will direct you where to go from there.
About the organizers: Casecomps is a local Chicago startup focused on connecting professionals to employers through fun, creative challenges. Flatiron School Chicago helps passionate career changers build fundamental skillsets in data science, UX/UI design, and software engineering.
The session will be led by Michael Kokot, an Accenture consultant and founder of Casecomps, and Flatiron School Chicago instructors.
