What problem do you solve and how do you address it better than the competition?
The digital commerce ecosystem moves so quickly that businesses can struggle not only to make the right decisions to position them for future success.
So, how do we help our clients stay ahead of the curve? With the right people and the right processes. Our collaborative ONE TEAM culture ensures everyone knows that they each play a critical role in enabling client success. Also, our comprehensive set of services comes together to help clients launch winning digital experiences and continually optimize them for long-term growth.
At the core of our success are our proven implementation methodology, experience-based architecture and solution consulting practices. Over hundreds of projects, we’ve been able to build a model that delivers award-winning creative design, results-oriented digital marketing and analytics capabilities, as well as strategy, support and managed service practically and profitably.
How did you get started?
Back in 2003, I watched two $1B+, Chicago-based consulting companies go bankrupt from the sidelines. After leaving the firms, I knew a lot of customers with unmet needs, and so I founded LYONSCG to go and help them.
How has your company culture evolved as LYONSCG has grown?
Our customer-centric culture was the foundation for the company in 2003 and is still at the heart of the business all these years later. We have always been fully committed to our customers, and we put their needs first – this has never changed.
Think of it as karma. We guarantee customer success and strive for 100% reference-ability. We want every customer to be better off after having worked with LYONSCG, and if our customers see success, we will too.
What are your primary goals for LYONSCG?
Simple: to be the best in our chosen areas of expertise. This goal means we want to be the best Digital Commerce Agency and Digital Experience Service provider out there.
How do we accomplish this? We do it by continuing to be a leader in our industry in customer satisfaction through consultative guidance, predictable and exceptional outcomes, and our ONE TEAM mantra. It goes back to our sense of karma: when our customers accomplish their goals and have success, we do so as well.
Where do you see LYONSCG in two years? Five? Ten?
Looking into the future, we want to continue our profitable growth both domestically and internationally.
Alongside that, we see ourselves continuing to grow with our clients and delivering bigger and better digital experiences that truly move the needle.
What’s the No. 1 thing on your to-do list?
Ensuring that our customers are satisfied and successful!
This objective means that I have my boots on the ground in the market, am meeting with customers, prospects and employees, am making a positive impact – and continuing to sell!
In your opinion, what are some of the pros and cons of being an Illinois business?
First and foremost, I believe that Chicago is one of the best cities in the world, not just for business, but also for culture, character, and personality. There is nothing like the genuine, hard-working midwestern values that this city and state prides itself on.
Many of our retail and apparel clients are not in Illinois, but Chicago is an excellent hub, enabling us to travel to both coasts easily. The local technology environment is incredibly energized and vibrant as well. All in all, it’s a fantastic place for LYONSCG to call home.
What are the biggest challenges you face as you scale your business?
Finding the right talent is always the biggest challenge that we’ll face as we continue to grow our business. We are doing more and more campus recruiting and have invested a lot of time and money in training to help develop our talent. Our robust and customer-focused culture is also a great asset when it comes to attracting the top talent in the industry.

It has honestly been a blessing to have the opportunity to start and grow LYONSCG over the past 15 years. The LYONSCG family - our employees and customers - are second to none!
The commerce market continues to change rapidly, so we decided it was necessary to “go BIG or go home.” This aim meant that we effectively managed a process with William Blair to find the right buyer to help us maintain and grow our dominant industry position. This process resulted in us selecting Capgemini to repurchase LYONSCG in 2017. We found Capgemini’s culture to be the best match for our own and based the decision on that. We are now positioned with Capgemini to become a global powerhouse in the digital commerce services space. Come join our growing team!
