Igor Fedulov, CEO, Intersog, @Intersog
If you have an idea of a new app for your business or an IoT project, but you don’t know where to start, Intersog can help you figure it out quickly. Headquartered in Chicago, Intersog helps companies bring their ideas to life, building ROI-driven custom software and finding top tech talent with rare skills for large and small projects.
In 25 words or less, what is Intersog all about?
Intersog offers custom software development and agile team staffing solutions to help leading brands and startups achieve their business goals faster by leveraging on-demand resources and innovative technologies.
What problem do you solve and how do you address it better than the competition?
We help our clients develop custom software that can solve one or a series of specific operational challenges in their business, for example an easier access to patient data, integration with multiple back-office systems into one CRM, automation of logistics and planning of steel manufacturing process, customizing unique monitoring solutions for automotive industry and a myriad of other examples.
Unlike most of our Chicago-based competitors, we offer a variety of engagement options to match nearly any software development budget, no matter if it’s a growing startup or a traditional bank. For example, prototype to MVP services with full-cycle development and end-to-end product delivery. Or, a dedicated development team for long-term projects. We also offer individual consultants with hard-to-find unique skills that our clients might be missing on their team.
With our R&D centers in Canada and Ukraine, we can distribute the development process to diversify risks for our clients, reduce costs, and shorten time to hire and time to market.
When we work on a software project, we always look at it through the lens of the outcome and how much value it brings to the client. Very often clients come to us with an idea they have for their business, and we create an entire solution or a product from strategy and ideation, to developing, testing, launching, and optimizing for growth.
How did you get started?
When we launched Intersog, in 2005, we were primarily a group of Delphi and Java developers. We had to adapt quickly to the birth of the mobile revolution. You can say that we rapidly embraced it and ran with it.
Since then, we’ve learned a lot. We always keep testing new technologies to be able to offer our clients the most efficient and the most relevant to them innovations, including IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Modeling, Rapid Prototyping and many more.
How has your company culture evolved as Intersog has grown?
We’ve always treated our people as our primary asset that drives our growth and success. Profitability allowed us to offer our team members multiple programs to support their personal and professional growth, starting from employee powered Hack & Tell seminars and all the way to sponsoring a free Intersog Labs school for bright and talented newcomers.
What are your primary goals for Intersog?
Be a leading brand in custom software development globally. Right now Intersog is heavily focused on leveraging new technologies in IoT, Big Data, Cloud and AI. Our team works hard to deliver the projects on time, on budget and with real value for the client or end users.
Many of our customers are experimenting with the Internet of Things solutions that improve people’s lives, and we are motivated to be a part of something significant and at the same time grow professionally in this area.
Where do you see Intersog in two years? Five? Ten?
We are aiming to continue our growth globally, partner and engage with more companies and following our pursuit of forefront technical expertise. Today we are recognized by Clutch and GoodFirms among leaders in our industry; we will strive to continue testing new technologies and methods to bring more value to our clients, at the same time acquiring top talent by opening new development locations in major European and North American cities.
In your opinion, what are some of the pros and cons of being an Illinois business?
In the last few years, Illinois has become a significant technology hub in the central part of the US. It’s a great place to be: we are at the forefront of the technological transformation that many of our local clients go through. Especially, when it comes to IoT development.
The drawback for many businesses in the state is that with the development of the economy the workforce becomes more and more expensive and scarce. Looking for alternative approaches to building teams by combining geo-separated resources is a winning strategy in the current business landscape.
What are the biggest challenges you face as you scale your business?
Keeping up with emerging technologies is one of them. We always pay attention to what’s new and what we should learn and test to bring value to our clients. Another challenge is managing a growing international team. Since we have multiple remote locations, we are working hard to keep the uniqueness of each small team, but at the same time grow as one single company together.
