Sarah Goldberg, Sourcing Engagement Lead, Objective Paradigm @sarahegoldberg

Sarah leverages data, research, and a little bit of magic to find the right candidates, processes, and tools for her clients. She has spoken at The Illinois Technology Association and SourceCon, and she organizes Queer Tech Club Chicago.

Chicagoan by birth or relocation?

Relocation

If you relocated, what brought you to Chicago?

I came for school – University of Chicago BA ’13 – and fell in love with the city! I made sure to stick around after graduation.

How did you come to work with Objective Paradigm?

I was looking for something that would let me use my liberal arts and research background and found a posting for a Sourcing and Research Specialist. It seemed like a natural fit, and a way for me to continue to learn new and cool things every day!

What about Objective Paradigm was appealing?

I love Objective Paradigm’s culture of teamwork: we know that a rising tide lifts all boats, and I can’t count the number of times I’ve been able to rely on a teammate (or been able to help someone out!) – whether we’re formally working together on a joint project, or just making an introduction as a favor, we’re always helping each other out.

What do you like most about what you do?

We help people solve problems. Whether we help our clients find hard-to-find people, or help our candidates find great jobs, at the end of the day we can see the impact we’ve made!

Which achievement at Objective Paradigm are you most proud of?

I’m proud of the way we’ve grown our sourcing team! We’re one of the largest teams at the company, and many of us are now client-facing: we’ve realized that the sourcing services we offer can be helpful for our clients on their own, and we don’t need to be hidden behind the scenes.

What’s the best advice that you’ve ever received?

Don’t overthink it, from Steve Levy! It’s too easy to wind up down the rabbit hole when you’re stuck on a big problem, and sometimes you just need to step back and reassess.

What success are you most proud of?

I’m proud of the way that Queer Tech Club has grown. We manage to host monthly events all over the city that help bring people together, and help companies shine a light on the inclusive workplaces they’ve built!

If money was no object, what would your dream job be?

I’d be a tour guide in Athens, Greece!

This one is all you! Tell us anything. Any topic at all.

Facetiously is the only word in the English language that has all of the vowels in order!
