TechForward raised $42,500 to support STEM Education in underserved communities.

Last week, TechForward, the philanthropic arm of the Illinois Technology Association (ITA) launched its first annual CxO Auction & Fundraiser. The CxO Auction & Fundraiser is the first event of its kind in Chicago and offers attendees the opportunity to bid on one-on-one experiences with Chicago tech leaders while networking and fundraising for a good cause. As an inaugural event, the excitement and buzz around the CxO Auction was palpable. Over 100 people from throughout the Chicago tech community were present to enjoy great conversation, drinks and food while participating in the silent auction fundraiser.

As the introductory fundraiser for TechForward, the CxO Auction featured experiences with 15 area executive leaders from top technology companies, including: United Airlines, Morningstar, Paylocity and Yello. Those participating in the auction were personally invited to donate their time by the TechForward Board of Directors and had the freedom to choose the experience they included as part of their package. Winners of the auction packages receive the unique opportunity to spend one-on-one time with the executives - away from an office setting – and discuss with them their careers, best practices and strategies for success. Several executives offered private tours of their headquarters, and while others included classic Chicago experiences – a Cubs game, Bears game and Art Institute tour to name a few.

During the course of the night, the TechForward team and dedicated volunteers spread throughout the room to encourage attendees to bid on experiences or donate to the mission of TechForward. Between the results of the silent auction and bids collected on site, over $42,000 was raised, with all profits benefiting TechForward.

“The CxO Auction is just one of the ways that TechForward looks to support STEM education,” said Trisha Degg, Executive Director of TechForward. “We wanted a unique event that was a perfect balance of fun and fundraising for a good cause. We’re very appreciative of the 15 CxO’s that donated their time and helped us make this a great event.”
