To celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, ITA has been busy with programs that make an impact. We released our Women Influence Chicago Benchmarking Report in late February and inspired more than 100 young women from Chicago Public Schools on International Women’s Day with our City-Wide Job Shadow Day.
What’s next? We are taking a 10-year-old program that has been traditionally male dominated and making it female only. The ITA Tech Challenge, in its tenth year, is celebrating this milestone by empowering women in STEM. The program is a coding/programming challenge, aimed at attracting young talent to the Chicago tech community. Open to any US-based students at the university level, who identifies as female, the program opens in September with a virtual, online coding challenge to gauge coding skills.
We then narrow the scores down to the top 40 overall and bring them into Chicago for a hackathon-style, team-based challenge. The students will be focused on creating a solution to a social impact problem. Sponsoring companies will act as mentors to help the students build creative solutions and present to a panel of judges. The students will be evaluated on their solutions, but also, teamwork, communication, strategic thinking and more.
ITA is seeking sponsors to support this brand-new initiative! Let us help your company get in front of future female engineering talent. Contact Trisha Degg at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on sponsorship.
