The Illinois Technology Association's ScaleUp Chicago (formerly Chicago Tech Summit) took place last week at The Dalcy, filled with an enthusiastic crowd looking to learn from leaders across the Chicago tech industry. Speakers shared lessons learned and provided attendees insights to take back and apply to their own organizations. A mix of big heavyweight companies as well as local startups were represented in the audience while listening to topics comprised of the Future of Freight Logistics Technology, Silos Suck, and Your Product is Never Really Ready.

Highlights include:

  • Opening keynote speaker, Mats Lederhausen, riled the group into thinking how their newest venture can solve human problems and care more beyond just being successful financially.
  • Joel Beasley of LeaderBits energetically introduced key learnings that he acquired while interviewing CTOs for his podcast in additional to highlighting personal experience.
  • Katie Malone of Civis Analytics presented on OKRs and how they can help transform a company’s strategy in an actionable and measurable way.
  • Marina Malaguti of Jellyvision and Jodi Goglin of Ensono talked about bridging the talent gap for women in technology while also noting the need for general diversity within the space.
  • Closing keynote speaker, Glen Tullman, discussed his company’s mission to change the way healthcare is handled in this country and how technology has transformed how data and information are used in healthcare.
