What are the top reasons employees would say they love working for Enova?

People at all levels have the autonomy to own their projects from start to finish and are empowered to question the status quo and find the best answer. They know they can count on their teams for support when they encounter a unique problem and that their boss will help remove roadblocks and nurture their career.
How does Enova interact with the Chicago community?
We believe it’s important to invest in our community and in a stronger, more diverse tech talent pool. Our Women @ Enova affinity group founded the annual Chicago Women in Tech Conference (ChiWiTCon), which has grown to become the largest conference of its kind in Chicago.We also partner with Code Platoon, an organization that trains veterans to code, and have hired several graduates as apprentices.
In addition to tech-specific initiatives, through our Enova Gives program we provide Enova team members with ways to give back to the causes they care about most. Enova matches donations to qualifying nonprofits every calendar year. Twice a year, the organization as a whole votes on which nonprofit from the last six months of charitable matches should receive a special $3,000 or $2,000 donation. If team members want to volunteer their time, Enova provides multiple ways to do that, from smaller team events, to organization-wide initiatives, to one paid volunteer day each year.
What are your primary goals for Enova?
Our mission is helping hardworking people get access to fast, trustworthy credit. So far, we’ve served over six million customers. We believe as we continue to fulfill this mission and develop innovative products that meet our customers’ needs, our customers, team members and shareholders will all benefit.
What problem do you solve and how do you solve it better than the competition?
Millions of Americans have non-prime credit scores and can’t get access to a loan from a bank or other traditional credit provider when they need one. Enova is solving this problem by leveraging technology and analytics to offer consumers and small businesses the right amount of credit online, safely and quickly, when they need it. Our superior underwriting, driven by machine learning, proprietary algorithms and thousands of variables, better predicts outcomes and matches consumers with the right fit for credit. We’re now also extending our analytics expertise to other businesses through Enova Decisions, our B2B analytics-as-a-service offering.
What motivates your employees to come to work every day?
Our team members are highly talented and could choose to work anywhere in the tech industry, but they come to Enova every day because they enjoy the challenge of solving complex problems. They like the autonomy of owning their projects while knowing they have the support of their managers and team.
How has your company culture evolved as Enova has grown?

Are you headquartered in Chicago? What made you choose Chicago? If you are not headquartered in Chicago, what made you open an office here?
Enova is proud to be headquartered in Chicago. When the company was just a startup with a few employees, we saw a future for Chicago as a hub for technology — and fintech, specifically. The investment Chicago has made in fostering tech talent and a robust tech community has played a big role in our growth over the past 16 years.
What do you do to encourage constant growth and change for your employees?
One defining feature of Enova’s team members is the desire to continually learn and grow. To support this, Enova offers plenty of opportunities within and outside the company. In addition to covering the cost of conference attendance, we have a robust mentorship and job shadow program. It’s not uncommon for team members to move across roles and departments. Our apprenticeship program provides an opportunity to transition to software engineering. Over the course of several months, these apprentices learn the ins and outs of software engineering and work on real-world projects that have meaningful impact.
