Founded in 1998, Envoy is a global immigration services provider offering the only immigration management platform that makes it seamless for companies to hire and manage an international workforce. We empower companies to acquire the best talent regardless of where they live, manage their entire global workforce and enable employees to take advantage of business opportunities around the globe.
What problem do you solve and how do you solve it better than the competition?
Advances in technology are creating new opportunities for business, and globalization has allowed companies to spread their footprint wider than ever before. But as businesses grow more complex, so do their hiring needs. Employers need to expand their talent pool beyond borders to find high-skilled employees, and navigate a myriad of foreign immigration laws and paperwork to get talent on the ground quickly in new destinations. Traditional immigration and mobility processes involve excessive paperwork and unpredictable delays, creating anxiety for employees and HR teams and threatening mobility plans. Envoy Global solves this problem by blending both technology and legal representation to disrupt the global mobility process. Unlike the competition, Envoy has successfully leveraged technology to create efficiencies for HR teams and increase the quality and thoroughness of service offered by our affiliated top-tier immigration law firm.
What motivates your employees to come to work every day?
Employees show up to the office every day knowing that behind all of our technology and services is a mission to make the immigration process more seamless and transparent. Employees understand that behind the applications and case files we handle, there are real people whose lives have been transformed because they were able to find a great job opportunity abroad and form a life in the country of their choosing.
What do you do to encourage constant growth and change for your employees?
Weekly 1:1 meetings with managers give unfettered access to feedback, coaching and mentoring and allow employees to feel aligned with business objectives and individual career opportunities. Envoy also provides supporting career development resources through on-demand, personalized learning and development content specific to the company, team, technology, and individual’s goals. Creating thorough career and learning paths allows our employees to feel valued and inspired to make the most of their potential. Finally, at our monthly all-hands meetings, we always take the time to recognize professional and personal achievements of employees.
What’s the coolest perk [company name]’s office has?
Cold brew on tap!
What are the top reasons employees would say they love working for [company name]?
Employees love working for Envoy because of the other people who work here! Our culture is heavy on empathy and compassion, and the people we hire are both talented, driven and passionate about helping others. We also strong value transparency, so employees always feel informed about the company’s challenges and opportunities.
How has your company culture evolved as [company name] has grown?
Envoy’s business has evolved from an immigration law-first business to a service provider that combines legal expertise and robust technology. As a result, we’ve developed a culture that embraces change, growth and innovation. The people we’ve hired have so much drive and creativity to make our mission of helping people work anywhere in the world a reality. As we’ve grown in size, our employees, including leadership, have worked to maintain a sense of personal connection.
What are your primary goals for [company name]?
We want to make it easier for employers and workers to pursue opportunities across the global marketplace, whether that’s by helping employers and foreign workers navigate the U.S. immigration system or by enabling employees to travel around the globe with ease. When we help individuals find work wherever it may be needed, we also help companies acquire the talent they need to keep pace in the global knowledge economy.
What are the biggest challenges you face as you scale your business?
Scaling creates new opportunities to grow on a company level, but with it comes constant change. The same actions that get you to one milestone won’t get you to another, and you must be willing to view yourself as a work in progress and continually develop new skills and offerings. Meanwhile, as we grow and further disrupt an antiquated industry, our peers are starting to feel the pressure to catch up with us, so competition increases.
What risks or issues do you foresee in your industry’s near future?
There’s been a notable uptick in scrutiny of employment-based visa applications due to the current political landscape. Popular visas such as the H-1B are taking longer to receive approval and are frequently subject to Requests for Evidence (RFE) that increase cost, time and uncertainty for employers and foreign nationals. Even overseas, countries are dividing themselves by adopting either isolationists or progressive immigration policies. The trends stand to impact the how high-skilled talent chooses to migrate for years to come, and both companies and countries need to stay competitive to avoid falling behind.
Where do you see [company name] in two years? Five? Ten?
As we grow, we plan to keep evolving to offer our customers new solutions, but our core mission will remain the same: making it easier to hire and manage employees across borders by removing friction from the immigration process.
