We elevate the local tech community and make Illinois THE place for tech companies to thrive.

ITA, the growth arm of 1871 Chicago, is focused on scaling Illinois tech companies. Whether you are looking to build your team, promote your business or collaborate with like-minded tech executives, we’ve got you covered.

We aren’t a place you “go” - we are a network you access, a resource you leverage, an advisor you trust.

At ITA you’ll find your peers. Peers that are past the start-up stage and are looking for the next level of growth. ITA is here to help – to connect you, to educate you and to provide the resources you need to scale your business. Think of our staff as an extension of yours. Meet the team that is at the ready to support your growth.

  • Access - We provide the ecosystem and infrastructure to network with other similar-sized, fast-growing companies. From our CEO dinner to our ScaleUp Chicago summit, we help facilitate education and connections that result in growth opportunities for you and your business.
  • Talent - Finding and retaining talent is hard. We help make it easier with services like our Talent Portal and consulting from our in-house talent expert. We are also working hard to promote Chicago as a premier destination for tech talent at conferences and universities throughout the country.
  • Visibility - We get the word out about our members; leveraging our outlets for your content is part of membership. We can work with you to develop a multi-part article series, promote your news and more – all at a fraction of the cost of traditional media outlets.

First founded in 2005 by Terry Howerton and Fred Hoch, ITA evolved from previous organizations, the Chicago Software Association and the Illinois IT Association, to serve the technology community at large in Illinois and Chicago.

Over time, the local industry has changed and so has ITA. In 2013, ITA shifted its focus and began dedicating its full energy to serving growth-stage technology companies.

In 2020, ITA was acquired by 1871/The Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center. Working together as one integrated organization, ITA and 1871 are focused on enabling the success of members - from founders and startups to growth stage and enterprise level companies - by driving positive economic development in Chicago and across the region.

The Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center/1871/Illinois Technology Association (ITA) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
